And what's the road ahead...
Something that has come out of this is a watercolor gallery. A future app as well. The watercolor gallery is every piece of watercolor that I own, including Gouache. Swatched, labeled and some testing done. I say some testing because I want to let you experience the same thing that I have instead of taking it all away from you. I will have blogs that will cover reviews, tutorials, resources, and pigment tables. I have a large library of knowledge and I warn you walking into this you are going to be subjected to cusswords, silliness and ranting. Apparently a lot of ranting.
I have a lot of paintings that are in progress. I will share random sketches, plans and hopefully progresses on the bigger projects I intend to unleash here. I will be building a forum for people to hang out in, members get access to certain things first and there will be a lot of updates to galleries and changes on a regular basis!
Where it all began
Needrak studios came up because I couldn't think of a good name for my studio that wasn't always taken. A dear friend of mine started to tease me with the nickname and the name stuck for the brand. I made these watercolors for me. It started with a bad interaction between myself and another person who was selling on Etsy. They were pretty rude in their response, maybe that was just personal perception but then i was like how hard can this really be? So I tried it. Found what I had requested was easy for me to do. So I did it and that's how it started. I created paints that I enjoyed. They have oxgall, gum arabic, and distilled water for a binder. I like a certain texture but I like for the blooming to be spread. I am such an organized straight line perfectionist when it comes to sketching. With watercolors I prefer the chaos.
o/ Hell - o there. Welcome to my site. This place that I dusted off the cobwebs and settled into my bean bag chair slice of the interwebs. This place started out as an experiment to see what I could do, then it rolled into a store, which then rolled into what it has become. It is a place that I rant and ramble, go down rabbit holes, trip on historic pigment facts, and just like to have fun and nerd out about things. I am not a pigment perfectionist. I like the stuff that is fascinating and interesting about it but I will never hold anyone to a standard with pigment, lightfastness, etc. Why? Because there is no fun in keeping people from enjoying something. It's also a lot of work. I'd rather put that into my own paintings.
